THE WORKOUT STUDIO GUIDE

How to track your workouts, one session at a time.

A workout log should answer two simple questions: what did you plan, and what did you actually complete? Here is how to keep that record useful in Workout Studio.

1. Start with a reusable workout plan

Give your routine a name you will recognise later. Add the activities in the order you intend to complete them, then enter your targets. In Workout Studio, create and edit these templates under Workouts, using activities from the Library or your own custom entries.

A saved routine helps you avoid entering the same plan each time. It is still editable: adjust it when your equipment, available time or training plan changes.

2. Record the details that match the activity

Different activities need different measurements. Use a consistent exercise name and the same units across sessions so the comparison remains useful.

What to record in your workout log
ActivityRecordExample entry
StrengthCompleted sets, reps and weight3 sets of 8 reps at 40 kg
CardioTime and distance20 minutes and 3 km
StretchingTime and completed sets2 sets of 30 seconds

These are examples of log entries, not suggested workout targets. Record the work that belongs to your own session.

3. Keep planned and completed sets separate

If your plan says 10 reps but you complete 8, enter 8 as the actual result. If you skip a set, leave it unchecked. An accurate entry is more useful next time than a record of what you hoped to do.

In Workout Studio, only checked sets contribute to summaries. Unchecked rows remain visible as skipped in your history. This helps you distinguish a shorter session from a fully completed routine.

4. Compare like with like

Before your next session, look at the previous completed values for the same activity. For strength work, consider sets, reps and load together. A higher total weight lifted can reflect more sets or reps, rather than a heavier individual lift.

Cardio and stretching use different measurements, so review those activities in their own context. Workout Studio’s combined activity visualisations are summaries of recorded work, not a single physiological score.

5. Review the pattern across sessions

Open your completed workouts from Home to review what you planned and what you finished. Look for gaps in your record, exercises you consistently skip or routines you actually return to. These observations can help you keep your plan practical.

Keep logging even when a session changes. A short, accurate record is easier to use than trying to reconstruct every set from memory later.

Common workout-logging questions

Can I log strength and cardio in the same session?

Yes. Add both activity types to a Workout Studio routine and record the measurements for each. You can include stretching in the same session too.

Do I have to recreate my workout every time?

No. Save a reusable template and start a session from it. Edit your template when you want to change the plan.

What if I change the routine later?

Saved sessions retain their recorded exercise details, targets and actual values. Editing a template does not rewrite your completed workout history.
